Sell Ourselves on OUR Goals – Ponder & Progress w/ Dean Lindsay

When 2014 first came upon us, we set new goals or at least carried over some of 2013 year’s resolutions. We pledged to make 2014 a great year. And now we are in the fourth quarter with the clock ticking.

So… how’s it going?

How have you kept motivated?

Here is something to think about:

Everything we do, consciously or subconsciously, we do because we believe the perceived benefits will offer us a unique combination o what I call the Six Ps of Progress:

Peace of Mind

Pain Avoidance

This goes for eating, not eating, shopping, exercising, praying, hugging, providing outstanding customer services, reading, crying, making out-bound phone calls, working, going to the movies – whatever.

At each moment we make decisions based on what we think will bring these benefits- short term or long term. One of the reasons that New Year’s Resolutions are hard to stick with is we forget or lose sight of WHY we set them.

When we set them, we feel they will bring us long term pleasure or help us avoid pain long term. As the days and weeks roll on, we are introduced to many faster and easier ways to invest our time that promise pleasure or helps us some pain.

To stay committed to our goals and finish this year strong, we must sell ourselves on OUR goals and continually remind ourselves of the long term benefits for OUR lives.

WHY are they OUR resolutions?

WHY are they OUR goals?

WHY will achieving them make 2014 great for YOU?

“Strong reasons make strong actions.” – William Shakespeare

WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? Pile on the reasons.

Pile on the Six P’s of Progress.

We must make the benefits of our oals weigh heavy in OUR minds.

If we have a big enough WHY- you will figure out How.

Be Progress.
